Yes, but, they are used to being contained for long periods and may need additional help.

they don't often bark, so it's best to watch for them walking towards the exit/ toileting area and letting them out. 

Greyhounds have short hair and a single coat, so rarely need to be washed or brushed and usually do not smell. 

Because they only have a single coat, greyhounds do feel the cold and do need to wear clothing in winter. There are a number of places to find greyhound clothes, from pjs, to coats to raincoats.

After the exposes into the greyhound racing industry, most of the state governments funded the greyhound racing industry to establish standards. 

Each state has a number of charities devoted to animal welfare, animal rehoming and specifically, greyhound rehabilitation and rehoming post racing.

Since greyhounds have moved into domestic life and not just being in the racing industry, we've learned that greyhounds tend to live naturally to about 12, but there are instances where theyv'e lived to 18. We've also found that greyhounds do have a higher risk of some illnesses, which were not known when they were killed post racing career. These are osteosarcoma and this has the potential to shorten their lifespan.
